Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Section, Inc. ("Section", "we", "us", "our") processes the personal information of visitors to sectionai.com and any subdomain operated by Section for marketing purposes (the "Site").
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy covers data collected on the Site, including through contact forms, demo requests, gated-content downloads, marketing campaigns, and analytics. It does not cover Personal Data processed within Section's products on behalf of a Customer.
2. Who we are
Section is a Delaware corporation with its mailing address at 228 Park Avenue S, PMB 96268, New York, NY 10003-1502. For privacy questions, contact legal@sectionai.com.
3. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Information you submit: name, business email, company, role, country, phone number where you provide it, and any message you include when you complete a Site form (contact, demo request, newsletter sign-up, gated-content download, event registration, or similar).
- Information we collect automatically: IP address, approximate location derived from IP, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referrer URL, pages visited, time on page, scroll depth, links clicked, marketing-campaign attribution parameters, and similar information.
- Information from cookies and similar technologies: see the Cookie Statement for the full list.
4. Purposes for which we use information
We use the information described in section 3 to:
- respond to your inquiries and deliver the content or demonstrations you request;
- operate, secure, monitor, and improve the Site;
- measure the performance of our marketing campaigns and content;
- understand which companies and roles are interested in Section and tailor our outreach accordingly;
- send you marketing communications where you have consented or where we have a legitimate interest under applicable law, with the right to opt out at any time;
- comply with applicable law and respond to lawful requests, including by screening Site visitors and form submissions against U.S. restricted-party lists and by restricting access from jurisdictions subject to U.S. trade embargoes or stringent sanctions as required by U.S. export controls and sanctions laws;
- exercise or defend legal claims.
5. Legal bases (EEA and UK visitors)
For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, our legal bases for processing are:
- Performance of a contract or pre-contractual steps: where you have requested content, a demonstration, or other communication from us.
- Legitimate interests: for analytics, security, and marketing where consent is not required by law. Our legitimate interest is operating a business and reaching enterprises that may benefit from the Services. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests by contacting legal@sectionai.com.
- Consent: for non-essential cookies, marketing communications where required by law, and any processing that requires consent under applicable law. You may withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
- Legal obligation: where we are required to process information by applicable law.
6. Sharing with third parties
We share the information described in section 3 with the following categories of third parties that operate as service providers on the Site:
- HubSpot: marketing analytics, form intake, CRM, and email marketing.
- Google (Tag Manager, Analytics 4, Ads): web analytics and advertising attribution.
- 6sense: business-to-business account intent.
- Rudderstack (via Section's first-party tracking domain t.sectionai.com): website analytics event collection and routing.
- Cloudflare: content delivery, security, and bot management.
- Webflow: Site hosting.
These third parties process information on Section's behalf under written data-processing terms. The Site's product-side processors are listed separately on the Subprocessor List; HubSpot and Rudderstack appear in both contexts because they are used on both the Site and within the product.
We may also disclose information where required by law, in response to a lawful request from a government authority, to protect the rights, property, or safety of Section, our personnel, or others, or in connection with a corporate transaction such as a merger or acquisition.
We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration. Where applicable law treats certain online advertising activities as a "sale" or "sharing" (for example, under the CPRA), you may opt out as described in section 11.
7. International transfers
The Site and the third parties described in section 6 are operated from the United States. If you visit the Site from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, and processed in, the United States. Where required by applicable law, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers, including the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, and analogous mechanisms under the Swiss FADP.
8. Retention
We retain marketing leads, contacts, and analytics data for as long as necessary for the purposes described in section 4, subject to our internal records-management practices and applicable law. Analytics data is aggregated within the relevant tool's retention period. You may request deletion of information about you as described in section 10.
9. Security
We maintain technical and organizational measures appropriate to the risk of the processing. No security measure is perfect; we cannot guarantee the absolute security of any information transmitted over the internet.
10. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate personal information;
- delete personal information;
- restrict or object to specific processing;
- port your personal information to another service;
- opt out of marketing communications, "sale," or "sharing" as defined under applicable law.
To exercise these rights, contact legal@sectionai.com. We will respond within the timelines required by applicable law. We do not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
11. Browser-based opt-out signals
We do not respond to legacy Do Not Track (DNT) signals. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as a valid opt-out of "sale" and "sharing" of personal information under the CPRA and analogous state privacy laws where applicable. Where a Site cookie consent banner is available, you may also manage non-essential cookies through that banner.
12. CCPA / CPRA disclosures (California residents)
In the twelve months preceding the Last Updated date above, we have collected the following categories of personal information from California residents: identifiers (name, email, IP address, online identifiers), internet or other electronic network activity information (browsing and interaction with the Site), commercial information (interest in Section's products), and inferences drawn from the foregoing (such as account intent signals from 6sense).
We collect this information for the purposes described in section 4 and share it with the categories of third parties described in section 6. We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration. Advertising cookies and similar technologies may constitute "sharing" under the CPRA; you may opt out of sharing via the GPC signal described in section 11 or the Site's cookie consent banner. To exercise rights to know, delete, correct, or limit the use of sensitive personal information, contact legal@sectionai.com. We do not knowingly collect personal information from California residents under the age of sixteen.
13. Children
The Site is not directed to children under the age of sixteen, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Site, contact legal@sectionai.com.
14. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the Version and Last Updated date above. Where appropriate, we will provide additional notice.
15. Contact
